Monel 400 Sheets and Plates are mainly made up of 63% nickel and 28–34% copper, with trace levels of iron (2.5%), manganese (2%), carbon (0.3%), and silicon (0.5%). The blend of its nickel content and copper provides Monel 400 very good corrosion resistance, particularly in seawater, alkalis, and acids. Mechanically, it possesses tensile strength of 70–85 ksi (485–585 MPa), yield strength of 30 ksi (205 MPa), and elongation of 40% on 2 inches (50 mm). Having a Brinell hardness of around 200, this alloy is fairly ductile and possesses strength over a variety of high-stress industrial environments.
