Stainless Steel 316L is an austenitic stainless steel alloy that contains 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, all of which boost its resistance to corrosion and pitting. With a low carbon content (capped at 0.03%), it minimizes carbide precipitation, enhancing both weldability and toughness. This alloy boasts a tensile strength of around 485 MPa and a yield strength close to 170 MPa.
