These Sailcor® Corten steel sheets and plates generally adhere to ASTM A588 or A606 Grade 4, with a chemical makeup of about 0.12–0.20% carbon, 0.25–1.00% manganese, and 0.30–0.65% silicon, along with small amounts of phosphorus and sulfur. The addition of copper (0.25–0.40%), chromium (0.50–1.25%), and nickel (0.65–1.25%)—and sometimes vanadium—boosts their weather resistance and strength. Mechanically, they typically provide a minimum yield strength of 50 ksi (345 MPa), a tensile strength of around 70 ksi (485 MPa), and an elongation of about 22%, ensuring excellent toughness and formability, along with resistance to atmospheric corrosion and fatigue.
