Corten A, in particular, boasts a higher phosphorus content, which boosts its weather resistance, especially in thinner gauges. The typical composition features 0.12% carbon, 0.25–0.55% silicon, 0.20–0.60% copper, along with trace amounts of chromium and nickel.
