Stainless Steel 317L is a low-carbon austenitic stainless steel alloy that contains 16–18% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum, which significantly boosts its resistance to corrosion and pitting. With a low carbon content (maximum 0.03%), it minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, enhancing its weldability. This alloy boasts a tensile strength of about 485 MPa and a yield strength of around 170 MPa.
