Alloy Steel Gr 12 Sheets and Plates consist of Chromium (0.90–1.10%), Molybdenum (0.15–0.25%), and Carbon (0.12–0.18%) and contain minor amounts of Manganese, Phosphorus, and Sulfur. This combination of alloys gives excellent high-temperature strength, resistance to oxidation, and wear resistance. Mechanical properties comprise tensile strength of 620–800 MPa, yield strength between 415–590 MPa, and excellent hardness and ductility. These characteristics render Grade 12 plates and sheets suitable for thermal cycling, pressure loading, and corrosive conditions, primarily in boilers, pressure vessels, and thermal processing equipment.
